  • Birth  8 Feb 1875  Adelebsen, Germany Find all individuals with events at this location
    Gender  Female
    Hebrew Birth  3 Ada 5635
    Hebrew Death  4 Tis 5665
Biography  She died of septicemia and the child, a boy, was stillborn. It is registered in the Geseke city records as having died on 10.9.1904. My mother who was only 1-1/2 years old at the time ( I have one single picture of her with her mother) kept her mother's Yahrzeit always on Rosh Hashana.

My grandfather Rudolf Abel was a horse merchant. In his early years (his father died in 1900 when he was thrown off by a horse), he had a farm. Later he managed a cement factory. My mother used to tell me that all year she was looking forward to Yom Kippur , because she could sleep late. It was the only day she didn't have to get up at 5 in the morning to do the chores (before going to school).

After the death of Cora, grandfather married Bertha Fink, in 1906 whom I remember as Oma. I used to visit them in Geseke every summer until 1932 with my mother. I still can feel the taste of pears from the garden. They had two children.

Annaliese who is still living in Gainesville, Florida her husband, Dr. Ludwig Auerbach, having died In 1987. Their daughter Marion, is married, has two children and three grandchildren. Werner was deported to Warsaw with his wife Clara and died In concentration camp.

My grandfather emigrated in the summer of 1933, stayed with us in Casablanca for some time then went to Paris, France. He returned to Tangier in June 1938, only to die of uremia a few months later. I remember Opa with affection, especially him putting up a stand at the Casablanca flea market and selling to the Arabs with sign language when I couldn't come along to interpret.

Oma stayed in Germany with her son. She had cancer and died in Dusseldorf.  [1
